KLANKVELD

A concert in Antony Gormley's exhibition at KMSKA
[drums]

On Thursday, 3 September, BL!NDMAN brings Antony Gormley’s exhibition Geestgrond (Ground of the Mind) to life with KLANKVELD. Created especially for KMSKA LAAT, this site-specific project sees the percussion quartet engage with the meanings evoked by the British artist’s sculptures: the encounter between the living body and the solid object, the minimalist relationship between material and form, the balance between the imaginative mind and the human organism, and humanity’s place within architectural space.

Through a carefully curated selection of repertoire, BL!NDMAN adds a musical and formal dimension to Antony Gormley’s striking sculptures. The name KLANKVELD (‘sound field’) is inspired by the idea that the musicians create a field of sound in dialogue with the artworks, without literally playing on them. In this way, Gormley’s Geestgrond (Ground of the Mind) acquires a musical foundation.

This is not a conventional concert: BL!NDMAN will inhabit the exhibition space continuously from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm.
