BL!NDMAN [drums]
Through collaborations with the three young quartets BL!NDMAN [drums], BL!NDMAN [new strings] and BL!NDMAN [vox], the master quartet BL!NDMAN [sax] shares 20 years of performing experience with the oncoming wave of young musicians and makes it possible for the two generations to exchange ideas.
BL!NDMAN [drums] is a dynamic percussion quartet, founded in August 2006, in order to explore the divers aspects of contemporary percussion.
At this moment, the quartet is working on different programs. From minimalism, complex contemporary structures with shifting patterns, visions of marimba and back.
In February 2007 the quartet was invited at the Andy Warhol Festival at the Beursschouwburg in Brussels. Shortly after, they occupied a route along four Brussels Museums, together with 3 other BL!NDMAN-quartets, for the occasion of Brxl Bravo.
In June 2007, a collaboration with Toneelgroep Amsterdam and Ivo van Hove was premiered at the Holland Festival. Van Hove adapted Shakepeare's Roman Tragedies, a 6-hour marathon performance with new music for percussion and electronics, composed by Eric Sleichim and performed by BL!NDMAN [drums]. In 2010 the production is still touring.
In spring 2009 BL!NDMAN [drums] premiered a new production with silent movie and live music, composed by Eric Sleichim for percussion quartet and live electronics: Secrets of a Soul.
From January 2010 BL!NDMAN [drums] joined forces with the other BL!NDMAN-quartets in Kwadratur #2/Transfo.
For the season 2010-11 the percussion quartet prepares Totem, a program around turntables, in collaboration with BL!NDMAN [strings], an idea of Eric Sleichim & Matt Wright.
